About Ransom Carson Beckwith
It goes on to say that Ransom with two brothers (presumably Daniel and Simion) were on their way to settle in Ohio. At a stopover called the Crossroads in Steuben Co., NY, they met a party including the 14 year-old Anna Palmer. Ransom made a 3 day stop over. He and the talented singer Anna were married, came down in to Penna. at Sarwell Creek where the old Beckwith Homestead is now located and the above family were perhaps born. Later they moved to Clermont. Ransom Beckwith went west after the War of 1865 to take up a homestead in Nebraska. He died and was buried there. Anna Palmer Beckwith came home and made her home with her children and was buried on Sartwell Creek. Ransom Beckwith's mother, Ormand Merrel, who after the death of her husband Jabez Beckwith died, married Hon. Joel Bishop, is buried at Clermont, Penn. Ransom Beckwith, son of Jabez and Ormanda, was born in Herkimer Co., NY. Anna Palmer was born in Lake George, NY.
