Ransom Nichols

Ransom Nichols and Mary Nichols had 11 children and seven names we know for sure. The other 4 names are missing. Lizzie B is Jessie Bell since Jessie Bell was the definitely the oldest girl. Also I suspect Elament is actually Shedric since none of the elders have heard of this name. Unless this name Elament is one of the missing names. I suspect the census taker made a few mistakes on names. As of the 1900 census, Mary was the mother of 8 children but only 5 were living. We suspect that 3 children died in infancy which would explain why no one knows their names. Ransom Nichols was an educated man who could read and write. Quite an accomplishment for a black man at that time.
