About Raymond Julius Davis
Raymond J. Davis, 80, of Eckerman, Michigan, died Sunday morning July 26, 2009 at Helen Newberry Joy Hospital in Newberry.
Born June 17, 1929 in Comstock Park, son of the late Zell Davis and Ula (Smith) Davis, Raymond Davis served in the United States Army during the Korean War until his discharge of September 11, 1954. On September 19, 1959, he married the former Elaine Pokela in Rudyard. Raymond was employed as a heavy equipment operator for the International Union Operating Engineers Local #324 for 45 years until his retirement in June 1, 1987. He had been a resident of Eckerman since 1974 and enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening.
In addition to his parents, Raymond Davis was preceded in death by his brother Alva Davis.
Survivors included his loving wife Elaine Davis of Eckerman; daughters Bonita (John) Peters of Sault Ste. Marie, Burma (Paul) Kucharczyk of Alto and Betty Davis of Eckerman; grandchildren Raymond & Ashley Peters, Andrew, Julia and Justin Kucharczyk; siblings Zella Elliott of Paradise, Joyce Castle of Rudyard, Carol Dunbar of Durand and Delmar Davis of Eckerman.
Inurnment at the Paradise Baptist Church Cemetery in Paradise.
