KEARNEY - Raymond John Wall, 84, of Kearney died Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Welcov Assisted Living.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Faith United Church in Gibbon with the Revs. Larry and Peggy Michael Rush and the Rev. Mike Evans officiating. Burial will be at Kearney Cemetery.
O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney is in charge of arrangements.

Ray was born Feb. 27, 1932, in Edison to William and Marie (Meyer) Wall. He was raised in Davenport and was a 1949 graduate of Davenport High School in Thayer County.
He married Carol Ann Wenz on April 18, 1954. This 58-year union lasted until her passing Jan. 20, 2012.
Ray served in the U.S. Air Force in Florida from 1952 to 1956 after which he spent four years with the Jack & Jill grocery store in Holdrege. He next spent 29 years with the U.S. Postal Service and retired in 1987 as the Gibbon postmaster. Ray and Carol moved to Kearney in 1998.
During his life, Ray enjoyed leading Boy Scouts, lawn and garden care, camping, hunting, fishing, traveling, playing cards, dancing, performing with a seniors band, cooking at church and Bible study.
He will be remembered for his volunteerism in the community and church and for acting as power of attorney for people in need. His warmth and wonderful, dry humor will be cherished and missed by many.
Survivors include his sons, Ralph of Lincoln and Wayne and his wife, Sally, of Kearney; sister, Carol Daniels of Kearney; brother-in-law, Harold Sole of Geneva; mother-in-law, Seatta Swanson of Kearney; and other family and friends.
