About ReVou Carter

ReVou Eyre Carter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend died on May 9, 2014, of congestive heart failure, surrounded by her adoring family. She was a week shy of 99 years of age. ReVou was born on May 15, 1915, to James Alma and Hazel Leona Jones Eyre in the big bedroom of the family home in Adamsville, Utah. Her father died when she was only 8 years of age. She attended a two room elementary school in Adamsville. She rode a bus to Beaver to attend Jr. High and High School. When she graduated from high school, she was named the Salutatorian. Her favorite subject was English. She always had a good memory. She once had to memorize an entire play.

In 1931 she met Ward at a Christmas party in Adamsville and they had their first date for the New Year's Eve all night dance. That was the beginning of a romance that lasted 67 years. Ward and ReVou were married on November 1, 1935, at the Court House in Beaver, Utah. They were sealed for time and eternity on July 19, 1956. Together ReVou and Ward had three children, Marva Dawn, Donald Ward and Kevin Scott.

ReVou and Ward spent many wonderful times with dear friends and family in Minersville, Adamsville and Beaver. The 24th of July and the horse races and dancing were always big times in Beaver, as well as the Memorial day observance, decorating the graves with fresh peonies and snowballs, and being with family. Mother was always emphatic about seeing that the graves were attended to.

In 1950, Ward and ReVou moved from Beaver to Cedar City to begin a legacy in the grocery business at Bill's Grocery, which they eventually purchased from Uncle Neal. She supported Ward through this endeavor and was always willing to work in the store, especially every Tuesday while Dad went fishing. She also worked for many years at Southern Utah Office and Machines for Max and Larry. She worked there until she was 72.

ReVou enjoyed her home and welcomed everyone there for a visit or a meal. She is remembered as an accomplished and meticulous homemaker. ReVou was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She had a firm belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ. She held a variety of callings within the church, including counselor in the Relief Society and Young Women programs, and was a dedicated visiting teacher until her health would not allow her to visit. Just this month she was able to renew her temple recommend.

ReVou is survived by her daughter, Marva Middleton and sons Donald Ward Carter (Carol) of Cedar City, and Kevin Scott Carter (Marcia) of Kaysville, Utah; 11 grandchildren: Jeff (Lorrie) Middleton, Stacey Leavitt, Michael Middleton, Cristie (Tony) Bake, David (Sarah) Carter, Craig (Candice) Carter, Alyson (Jared) McCallister, Cydnee Carter, Hillory (Nate) Dahle, Nicholas (Lindsey) Carter, Jacob Carter; 19 great grandchildren, and 8 great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ward, parents, two brothers, James (ReNee) Eyre, and Don (Winegene) Eyre, granddaughter Katie Carter, great grandson, Brennan Ashdown and son-in-law, Gary Middleton.

ReVou is also survived by the best neighbors in the world! She loved her ward and her neighborhood. Mildren and Ron Cardon were always there to assist mother in many ways and will always be appreciated for their loving care. Thanks to sisters Gwin, Crandall and Shirley for their compassionate visits and support and to Sister Linford, her visiting teacher, for her love.

The family would like to thank Dr's. Marshall and Delcore for their excellent care, and to the administration and staff at Kolob Care Center. Special thanks to the many caregiver "angels" who were loving and caring friends to ReVou and cheerfully assisted her in her final hours. Thanks to Ethan Bunker and Hannah and aides for their care in the final hours of mother's life. Thanks to Maree and Lynette for their home care visits and the hot chocolate and toast. Thanks to Dr. Gary Clark who treated mother at her home for many months.

Mother we will miss you, but are comforted in the knowledge that you are at peace and great is the joy in your reunion with Dad, your mother and father, and grandchildren. Thank you for your hard work in this life, never giving up on us and your legacy of faith in our Lord. You were truly an incredible person who made this world a better place to live each and every day. Your memory was incredible and amazing to all who knew you. Mother enjoyed doing things for and spending time with her family whom she loved with all her heart. We love you.
