Rear-Admiral Sir Edward Chichester, 9th Bt. was born on 20 November 1849. He is the son of Sir Arthur Chichester, 8th Bt. and Mary Nicholetts. He was baptized on 24 January 1850 in Sherwell, Devon, England. He married Catharina Emma Whyte, daughter of Commander Robert Charles Whyte, on 12 October 1880.3 He died on 17 September 1906.
Rear-Admiral Sir Edward Chichester, 9th Bt. was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.). He gained the rank of First Boer War in 1881. He fought in the Egyptian Campaign in 1882. He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Royal Navy. He fought in the Egyptian Campaign between 1884 and 1885. He succeeded to the title of 9th Baronet Chichester, of Raleigh, co. Devon [E., 1641] on 13 July 1898. He was invested as a Companion, Order of St. Michael and St. George (C.M.G.) in 1899. He was Aide-de-Camp to HM Queen Victoria and HM Edward VII between 1899 and 1902. He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1901. He was Admiral Superintendent of the Naval Establishment between 1904 and 1906 in Gibraltar.
