About Rebecca Bartholomew
Rebecca Frisbie was born on 14 November 1679 at Of, Branford, New Haven, Connecticut. She was the daughter of John Frisbie and Ruth Bowers. Rebecca Frisbie was Alt Birth on 18 November 1679.1 Isaac Bartholomew in 1694 at Roxbury, Suffolk, Massachusetts. She died on 18 May 1738 at North Branford, New Haven, Connecticut, at age 58. She was buried at North Branford, Connecticut.
The estate of Rebecca was administered 4 July 1738.
It is argued by some that Rebecca Frisbie was not the proven wife of Isaac Bartholomew. Jacobus makes this argument in "Families of Ancient New Haven" and sets this Rebecca's date of birth as between 1694 and 1712 making her the youngest child in the family, and says she died without issue.
An article in TAG 19:129-132 argues there that there is no proof who the wife was, only that her name was Rebecca and likely not the daughter of John Frisbie & Ruth (Bowers).
The Bartholomew Genealogy states that she was the only Rebecca known to have been living in Branford who could have married Isaac and that her children were named for her brothers and sisters and that her brother was named their guardian after her husband's death and concludes: "Every other known fact agrees; still this may possibly be wrong."
The TAG article author suggests that another town may have been the birthplace of Isaac's wife.
