Rebecca Ashley, daughter of David Ashley and Hannah (Glover) Ashley, was born on May 30, 1685 in Westfield, Massachusetts.[1][2] She was baptized in Westfield on May 31, 1685.[2]
Rebecca married Samuel Dewey of Westfield. She was his second wife. No record of their marriage has been found. Basedon the date of birth of their first known child, they were probably married in 1712. Since they were both residents of Westfield and had their children there, they were no doubt married there.
Rebecca and Samuel had the the following children, all born in Westfield:
- Meriam, b. May 14, 1713[3][4]
- Jerusha, bpt. June 18, 1715[5][4] m. November 11, 1742 Joseph Hanmor/Marmon at Sheffield[4]
- Israel/Asael (twin), b. May 22, 1718[6][7][4]
- Mable/Maba/Hazel (twin),[6][7][4] b. bpt. May 25, 1718,[8] m. May 19, 1738 Ithamer Hubbell at Springfield[9]
- Sarah, bpt. 1722,[4] m. June 11, 1747 William Joyner at Sheffield[10][4].
