About Rebecca French

Rebecca French was born in 1709 at Burlington, Burlington County, New Jersey to Richard and Mary King French. She married Benjamin Shreve April 23, 1729 at Upper Springfield, Burlington County, New Jersey and their children were: Keziah, Richard, Caleb, William, Israel, Sarah, Benjamin (15005200) and Samuel. After the death of her husband Benjamin in 1751, it's possible she married George Eyers. At a Chesterfield meeting of Friends held May 2, 1754, there is a record stating, "This meeting being informed that Rebeca Shrieve late wife of Benjamin Shrieve deceased one of the members of this meeting had marryed George Eyers contrary to our rules of discipline, having been precautioned against it severall times: therefore this meeting Disowns her being a member in initie untell she shall make a sutable acknowledgment & condemn her transgreshion to friends satisfaction."
