HANCOCK— SMITH.— On the 18th July, 1870, at Riverton, by James Houghton, Church of England minister, Joseph, eldest surviving son of the late John Hancock, to Rebecca, widow of the late F. W. Smith and eldest daughter of the late J. W. and S. Hailes, of Waterloo. She came out from England with her parents in the ship Labelaince, and landed at Holdfast Bay 76 years ago.
