Barnes Family Tree on Ancestry.com (http://trees.ancestry.com/tree/10807391/person/428992305) lists her parents as Rebecca Hite and Capt. Charles Smith, but their ages and dates of death would more likely place them as her grandparents' generation. More likely is the version provided by Marlene Shake <pachydermtusk@sbcglobal.net> on the HITE-L rootsweb list on 3 Oct 2006 (http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/HITE/2006-10/1159897622) which concurs with Polly Boggess that her parents were John Smith and Sarah Mallory and that it was her father John who was the child of Charles and Rebecca.
