Renier Lamprecht (1966 - 2009)
Brief overview:
Renier (43), couldn't believe it when he was shot for the second time in another robbery. An hour later he was dead.
His girlfriend, Hannelie du Toit (39), was with him in their bedroom in their home on a small holding in Pumulani in the Kameeldrift area northeast of Pretoria. Du Toit first realized that Lamprecht was shot when she saw the bed was full of blood. Lamprecht was hit in the torso.
Lamprecht saw four men in the living room when he got up at about 3.30am to go to the bathroom. When Lamprecht and Du Toit closed the door, the robbers fired a shot through it. Then Lamprecht stood back and the robbers entered the room. They were forced onto their beds, after which their hands and feet were tied.
"Renier turned around and realized he had been shot. He just said, 'Oh Lord, just not again', "Du Toit said.
When Du Toit heard the robbers drive away, she unwrapped the cellphone charger wires around her arms with her teeth and went to the kitchen to cut the tie and laces around her ankles. Du Toit was still with the neighbours when paramedics told her they had done everything to save him, but it was in vain.

- In the previous incident, about three years previously, Lamprecht was alone in a house on a smallholding outside Rustenburg when robbers came in. They shot him three times in the stomach and robbed him. Lamprecht's bakkie was found hours after the murder in Mamelodi, east of Pretoria.
