About Reuben E. Woolworth

From the Town of Simsbury--served in Captain Zaacheus Gillet's company at the Lexington Alarm List, 10th Company, Enlisted May 13, Discharged December 17, No of Days of Service was 1.--- (Source: Record of Service of Connecticut Men--I. War of the Revolution, Hartford, 1889.) Then served in the 10th Company General Spencer's Second Connecticut Regiment. He was at the Siege of Boston, Mass. and apparently at the Battle of Bunker Hill on June 17, 1775. This service was from May 13th to December 17, 1775. He also served in Captain Joseph Forward's Company, Connecticut Eighteenth Regiment which was at the Siege of New York City. His unit arrived at New York on August 24, 1776 and he was made a prisoner by British troops about September 15th, and was released on Sept. 26?, and discharged Dec. 17, 1776. Enlisted in Captain Enoch Shepard's Company, Colonel John Mosley's Regiment in response to the Bennington Alarm, on August 17, and was discharged on August 23, 1777--(Source: Record of service of Connecticut Men in the War of the Revolution, pp. 21, 45, 51, 52, 470, Hartford, 1889 and Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors of the Revolutionary War, p. 883, Boston, 1908.)
