Kelsos to America

In 1748, three brothers, Alexander, Joseph, and Hugh Kelso migrated from Scotland to the colony of Virginia. Their parents John and Polly Kelso also migrated to the American colonies, but it is not clear if they came at the same time as their sons. Hugh became a wealthy landowner (see his will), married Mary Walker and produced six sons and three daughters. Hugh’s sons were particularly prolific in the matter of male descendants and a large percentage of the Kelsos in America today can trace their roots to Hugh. Joseph Kelso married Elizabeth Laird and had four sons who also produced many grandsons. Alexander (from who the present author is descended) sired two sons.
