RUBY WEDDING

On Wednesday the Rev. and Mrs. B. Rodrigues-Pereira celebrated their ruby wedding

Mr. Rodrigues-Pereira has been the chazan of the Montefiore Synagogue in Ramsgate for 29 years, and before that was chazan of the Congregation of Spanish and Portuguese Jews, Cheetham Hill, Manchester, of which his son Albert is today the Parnas Presidente.

His son Samuel is assistant chazan of the Salisbury, Rhodesia, Sephardi Congregation, and-his daughter is a nurse.

Rev Rodrigues-Pereira

The Rev Benjamin Rodrigues-Pereira, former minister of the Montefiore Synagogue, Ramsgate for 37 years, died in Manchester last week, at the age of 82.

Mr Rodrigues-Pereira was born in Amsterdam, the third son of the Haham of the now extinct Hague Sephardi community. He came to England in 1910 to take up the post of junior minister and later became minister of the Manchester Spanish and Portuguese Synagogue, which he served until 1929, when he went to Ramsgate. He remained there until his retirement in 1966.

He is survived by his widow, two sons and a daughter. One of his sons is the Rev Samuel Rodrigues-Pereira, assistant minister of the Manchester Reform Synagogue.
