About Rev. John Martin Cable, Sr.

CITING THIS RECORD

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, "Pedigree Resource File," database, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/2:2:9ZHB-GD4 : accessed 2016-04-11), entry for John Martin Cable, submitted by dbirdzell2810152.

John was also known as Martin. His marriage information is somewhat confused. His first marriage was to Christiana or Christina, sometimes with a middle name of Mary, and a last name of Ripley or Warner or sometimes both. One family researcher says he was 1st married to Christiana Ripley then later to Mary Warner.

He and Christiana had numerous children all probably born in Pennsylvania. He was reportedly a "Dunkard" Preacher and/or associated with the Church of the Brethern.

In 1778 he apparently was wanted by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania due to his support of the Crown. He was an early Ohio pioneer.

A newspaper account says that one of his great grandsons, David I. Hetzler of Ohio, had his remains reintered in Gettysburg Cem some time in the 1800s after they were moved from their original burial location on his farm, and that his oldest son Jacob is also buried in this cemetery.
