Rev. Chesley Herbert Camp, 84, 1818 Sibley Rd, Augusta, Georgia, entered into rest at 10:10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 1964, at a local hospital after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 4 p.m. at Bayvale Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Dukes and the Rev. Albert Stroupe, the Rev. Rudolph Evans and the Rev. L.A. Gay officiating. Burial will be in Pierce Memorial Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Vernon Maddox, J.D. Chalker, John Crawford, George Burch, Eulon Purvis, and Alex S. Inglett. Honorary pallbearers will be the Rev. Herbert Whitaker, the Rev. Leroy Harris, the Rev. R.H. Jones, Isaac S. Peeples, Clayton Boardman, Millard Goodwin and Alonzo Boardman. A native of Newton County, Rev. Chesley was a retired minister. He was the son of the late Harry and Lavinia Maddox Camp, both Georgia families. He was a graduate of Hephzibah High School and Coger College. He served the following churches as minister; Bethesda Baptist Church, 27 years; Woodlawn Baptist Church, 15 years; and Reedy Creek Baptist Church, nine years. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Leo Wood Camp, Augusta; a son, Thomas I. Camp, Augusta; two daughters, Mrs. G.W. Sleister, Mrs. Lucille Morris both of Augusta; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jim Everett, St. Petersburg, Fla., Mrs. P.K. Ferney, Granada Hills, California. Elliott Sons.
