About Rev. Daniel Webster Bowman
Bowman, pub in the Altamont, KS, Journal on Thurs Nov 1, 1906 - D. W. BOWMAN PASSED AWAY - Daniel Webster Bowman died at his home 1mi east of town on Wed Oct 30, 1906, and was buried at the Elston cemetery yesterday afternoon. The deceased was born at Greenville, PA on March 19, 1860 and was married to Harriet Bare on Sep 29, 1881. To this union 5 ch were born : Willace (sic), Lucius, Porter, Alice and Alda, all of whom were at home at the time that death entered. Besides the children he leaves his life companion, with whom they had lived a blessed life together. Mr. Bowman moved to Jewel county, Kansas in 1882 and removed to his farm east of Altamont in 1903. He was a member of the German Baptist denomination and was one of the elders at Eslton. The deceased was an earnest christian man who had the confidence and respect of all who knew him. He was always jovial and spoke a word of cheer to whom he met. Funeral services where not held on account of the serious sickness of Mrs. Bowman and daughter, Miss Alice, who has been very sick for several weeks. A few weeks later her father was confined to his bed with typhoid and was unable to overcome the fever with general disabilities. At present Mrs. Bowman and Miss Alice are thought to be improving.
