About Rev. Edward Ward

Edward was born Edward Browning. As Edward Browning he married Priscilla Soper 22 April 1791 in Frederick County, MD. Their first child born in 1792 was Priscilla Browning. After this, for reasons unknown, Edward adopted the surname Ward, and all his other children had the Ward surname.

Before Edward's marriage to Priscilla, Maryland court records indicate Edward and Marcey Hobbs had a son, Rezin Hobbs. Edward and Marcey Hobbs never married.

His tombstone has "DIED Sept. 26, 1857", but a family history gives the death date as 12 Sep 1857. Research has yet to determine which is correct.
