Rev. Hugh Burns (1825-1880) from Uler, Roane County, WV, father of Rev. William Burns, who expanded his mission, establishing churches throughout the central West Virginia region.

Rev. William Burns was the first pastor of the Enon Baptist Church near Grantsville in 1900.

This information came from Bob Weaver, a direct relative of Rev. Hugh Burns.

Rev.Hugh Burns brought his family to West Virginia to be away from the feuding that was going on in Kentucky,he was my gr.gr.grandfather.His son James Anderson Burns went back to Kentucky at 16,involved in the feud for a few yrs,after being wounded had a spiritual experience,helped end feud..and also helped to start Oneida Institute in Kentucky.
