As of 30 June 1915 he and Mrs. Fletcher resided at Sunny Slope Farm, Emmons Mine, Denton, Davidson County, North Carolina.     • "Aged Preacher Dies In Wilkes - Rev. James Fletcher Passes In Hospital - N. Wilkesboro, July 27
    • "Rev. James Floyd Fletcher, 87, for more than half a century one of the outstanding ministers in western NC, died today at Wilkes Hospital.
    • "The aged minister who for several years had made his home here with a daughter, Mrs. W.R. Absher, sustained a broken shoulder in a fall earlier this week and was carried to the hospital on Friday when he became critically ill.
    • "Rev. Mr. Fletcher was born in Ashe county. At the age of 14, he left home and began an apprenticeship as a printer. Two years later he returned home and attended school near Jefferson. At the age of 17 he was teaching school and at the age of 18 began his ministry.
    • "He served many churches in western NC and was continuously in the ministry until he resigned as pastor of Southside Baptist church in High Point in 1924. In addition to his work in the ministry, Rev. Mr. Fletcher was a writer, and was author of a widely circulated book entitled, "A History of the Ashe county and New River, VA Baptist Associations", which was published in 1935.
    • "Rev. Fletcher was first married to Louisa Barker. The surviving sons and daughters are Col. A.L. Fletcher, J.V. and A.J. Fletcher, Raleigh; Mrs. Absher, N. Wilkesboro; Herbert S. Fletcher, High Point; Mrs. E.W. Bean, Kinston; Charles F. Fletcher, Kirksville, MD; and Mrs. J.P. Bingham, Lexington.
    • "Rev. Mr. Fletcher was later married to Mrs. Ada Willet, of Glouchester, VA, who has been with him here at the home of Mrs. Absher.
    • "Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 pm at First Baptist Church in N. Wilkesboro. The body will lie in the church from 2 until 3 o'clock. The body will be taken Monday to Raleigh for burial in Mount Lawn Memorial cemetery at 2 pm."
