Note: I have found two of his descendants that were also ministers; Grandson: Rev. Benjamin Franklin Blanton and Great Grandson: John Evans Blanton

Update: Information received from Ruth Hasten, Blanton- Womack family researcher, states Jeremiah is NOT the son of William Blanton. She is a direct descendant and participated in DNA testing studies on both families. She also passed on the information that there are more ministers in the family, (1) George Washington Blanton and (2) Zachary Taylor Blanton. D.Glenn-2017

I can not help those who actually desc. from William Blanton; however, I do descend from Rev. Jeremiah Blanton via his son Josiah Blanton then via Rev. Benjamin F. Blanton then via his son John E. A. Blanton. Since 1995 I have conducted much time, effort, and energy researching the ancestral and descendants lines of Jeremiah Blanton and his son Josiah Blanton. I spent the better part of four or five years working with others in the "every name" Blanton DNA study and also did some work with the Womack DNA study. Prior to these two DNA studies many "old time" paper trail genealogies believed that Jeremiah Blanton descended from William Blanton; while others, thought he descended from Reuben Blanton of Brunswick, VA. Well, DNA surprised everyone. To some, the DNA findings were alarming because they in no uncertain terms wanted to desc. from the Archee and/or Thomas Blanton born out of wedlock to a woman named Ann aka Nancy Blanton and Abraham Womack who, on two separate occasions, were hauled into the Bastardy Courts of Amelia Co., VA and ordered to "cease and desist" their illicit relationship. Punishment for 2nd offense was some time in the stockades (out side in nasty cold weather). Well, like it or not, DNA proved the relationship between Ann aka Nancy Blanton (probable widow of a man named Thomas Blanton and known to be mother of Richard Blanton) and Abraham Womack. What that means is Rev. Jeremiah Blanton was son of Archee aka Archer Blanton and that Jereiah's paternal grandfather was Abraham Womack and a cousin of his wife Sarah Womack. Now, in one or more of the records on geni there is mention that two of Jeremiah Blanton's desc. were ministers; i.e., Rev. Benjamin F. Blanton and his son John E. A. Blanton (both my direct line ancestors). Well, there were others. Josiah Blanton, Rev. Benj. F. Blanton's father had two other sons who were ministers. They were (1) George Washington Blanton and (2) Zachary Taylor Blanton. For documentation you can email me delins1@verizon.net and/or google Blanton-Womack and/or http://blantonfamilydna.webs.com/dnatestresults.htm and/or plow your way through the records on the Womack DNA study as well as a multitude of other on-line records pertaining to the Blanton-Womack DNA studies. I urge you not to link your ancestors to the early Blanton's and/or Womack's without reviewing these records. Failure to do so, just might link you to the wrong tree and create a false genealogy. Bob Stafford in Atlanta is happy to correspond with any one researching Blanton's (any line). He kept excellent records on all evidence submitted in the DNA study and I believe he is still willing to accept any documentation and/or DNA you may have that he does not in his Blanton surname DNA records.
