About Rev. John Gillespie
Rev. John Gillespie was known as the"Thundering Preacher. M.A. (Glasgow 1602) ; ordained to Alva 18th July 1603. He was one of the forty-two ministers who signed the Protest to Parliament against the introduction of Episcopacy; transferred to Second Charge, Kircaldy, after 14th Oct 1612 ; transferred to First Charge; pres. by Charles I.,14th Aug 1625; died before 12th Aug. 1627, aged about 46.
