Rev. John William with his family from Virginia to Tennessee where he met Dr. William Cogswell Hazen and the two families moved to Arkansas, settling on an adjoining farm. The Hudson family as well as John William Hudson, moved to Bellefonte, Jackson County, Alabama before he migrated to Hazen, Prairie County, Arkansas and joined the Hazen family. The first Methodist church, started by Rev. Hudson, had about twenty members. It was built at Pleasant Point, east of present-day Hazen, for seventy-five dollars.
