Probate: The Will of the Reverend John Hugh Johnston Powell late of St. Anne's Newtonforbes Co. Longford Clerk deceased who died 12 January 1873 at same place was proved at the Principal Registry by the oath of Ellen Powell of St. Anne's aforesaid, spinster, Sister of the deceased the sole executrix. Effects under 3,000 pounds.
Had been executor of his uncle Col Knox Barrett's will of 1871, but Col. Barrett, in a codicil of 1873, because Rev. Powell his nephew, son of his sister Elizabeth, had predeceased him, appointed another nephew as executor. Col. Barrett spoke highly of his nephew in his will.
