About Rev. Jonathan Nye
After he resigned as pastor it is stated that charges were preferred against him as an unworthy member of the church. At the trial of the case he was called on for any answer he might make. He stated that he had listened attentively to the proceedings and it had occurred to him that the object of the trial was to have him turned out of the church, but that before this could be accomplished it would first be necessary for him to join the church as he was not then nor had been a member.
He was an attractive speaker and stood high in Masonry.
In 1825 he was a Representative and State Senator in 1827.
