About Rev. Publius Virgilius Bogue
https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=20578291
Graduated Yale 1787. Studied theology with his brother Aaron and preached at Granville, Mass. Married there 2 May 1791 Catharine, daughter of Col. Timothy and Catharine (Rose) Robinson. Installed pastor in Winchester, Conn. 26 Jan 1791, dismissed at own request because of poor health.
Settled at Vernon, Oneida, New York 1800. Removed to Georgia, Vt., installed there 8 Oct 1803, dismissed 20 Oct 1813. Installed as pastor of new Sauquoit Congregational Church, Paris, New York. 15 Mar 1815. Dismissed 7 Feb 1826 and retired to Clinton, where he died in 1836.
According to his Yale biography, Publius was dismissed from his last position because his "usefulness was destroyed by difficulties fomented by an outside evangelist anong his people." This must have been a reference to Rev. Charles Finney (who as a boy was raised in Oneida County).
