Sister Mary Stanton
STANTON, Sister Mary (Sister Mary Aloysius) Sister Mary Stanton (Sister Mary Aloysius), a Grey Sister of the Immaculate Conception, Pembroke ON, died in Shalom Residence on the 11th day of October, 2008 in the 80th year of her Religious Life. Left to mourn are the members of her Religious Community, sisters, Rita Ryan and Clare Wood, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents, Joseph and Elizabeth (Farrell), sister Carmel, brothers, Patrick, Gervais, Alphonse, Frank and Wilfred. Sister Mary was born in Pakenham, on October 6th, 1913. She entered the Community on July 31st, 1929, pronouncing her final vows on August 16th, 1935. A teacher by profession, she ministered in several areas including Midland, Eganville and Ottawa where she also served as Principal in Corpus Christi, St. George's and St. Margaret Mary Schools at various times in her career. In retirement she turned to parish work at Resurrection Parish, later moving to Blessed Sacrament Parish, Ottawa. From 2002, she lived peacefully at Shalom Residence, Pembroke. Resting at the Marguerite Centre, 700 Mackay Street on Tuesday October 14th, 2008 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Evening prayer at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Liturgy on Wednesday, October 15th, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Columba's Cemetery. Arrangements in care of the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Pembroke.
