About Rev. Thomas Airey
A graduate of Oxford, he was probably the first Airey to come to America. He arrived in Baltimore from England in the Province of Maryland in 1726 where he was inducted into the office of Priest of Great Choptank Priest of Dorchester County in 1727 by letter from the Lord Proprietary, Charles Calvert, Governor of Maryland, He was the second Rector of Christ Church in Cambridge and served the parish from 1727 until 1765, a period of 38 years.
There is a small town, Aireys, Maryland, named after him.
