Nov., 1766, daughter of Gen. Robert Dennison and wife Prudence. She was b. 1 Jan., 1747, died Manchester, Ct., March, 1816, in her 70th year. The Rev. Benajah Phelps graduated at Yale in class of 1761, studied divinity, was a Congregational clergyman, settled in Cornwallis, N.S. In 1778, being a full blooded Whig, he had some difficulty with the government, and as he said to his son: 'Was obliged to leave unceremoniously'. From there he removed to Manchester, Ct. In 1779 he was installed as pastor of the Congregational church there, from which he was dismissed in 1793. After that he preached occasionally. He represented his town in the General Assembly, and was a justice of the peace for several years. He died in Manchester, 10 Feb., 1817, in his 80th year."
