About Reverend Canon Charles Lane
Reverand Charles Lane was educated in Harrow School, Harrow on the Hill, London, England. He was Rector between 1846 and 1879 in Wrotham, Kent. He held the office of the Honorary Canon of Canterbury Cathedral. He was Rural Deed of Shorham.
Charles Lane was a descendant of the Lane family of Bently Hall (later Kings of Bromley) one of which was Jane Lane, the English Civil War heroine.
Charles and his wife had 13 children, including son Henry Murray Lane, an officer of arms at the College of Arms, in London. He was appointed Bluemantle Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary on Aug. 11th, 1849.
