  • HANNAH, (41) m. Rev. Ephraim Woodbridge, the first minister of Groton, 4 May, 1704, and he was ordained the 8 of Nov. following. He continued pastor of this church till 1724, and died in Dec. of the year following. He was emphatically of a clerical lineage and family. His father was the Rev. John Woodbridge, of Killingworth; his grandfather was Rev. John Woodbridge, of Wiltshire, Eng., who died 1695, in Newbury, Mass.; his great-grandfather was Rev. John Woodbridge, of Stanton, Eng., and he had a brother. Rev. John Woodbridge, first minister at West Springfield, Mass., who had a son Rev. John Woodbridge. He had no son John to succeed him, but one of his grandsons, bearing his own name, Rev. Ephraim Woodbridge, born in Groton, was ordained a minister at New London, 11 Oct. 1769.
