Schoolmaster and Teacher of Music at Kirkwall in Orkney: Reader at the Cathedral Kirk of Orkney and Vicar of the Parish of Saint Ola: Minister of the Gospel of the Second Charge at Kirkwall, 1639-61: Clerk to the Presbytery of Orkney

According to the Reverend Doctor Hew Scott, George Moody is the "natural son of Adam Moody of Breckness, parson of Walls and Flotta". Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae, V. Vicar of the Parish of Saint Ola

Before the second charge at Kirkwall was recognized, the priest at Kirkwall was assisted by a reader who was the vicar of the parish of Saint Ola. George Mudie held this position for thirty-three years. On 2 May 1626 "George Mudie, reidare of Kirkwall" sold to Bailie Thomas Lentron "all and haill (his) haill vicarrage buttire of the parochin of St. Allawis, extending to fyffe barrellis Orknay buttire". Clerk to the Presbytery of Orkney

Mr. George Mudie served as clerk to the Presbytery of Orkney in 1650 and 1651. On 19 March 1651 the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland agreed that: "he may have the benefite this year and the former, which was due to him for his charge in precenting and clerkshippe to the Session." The Records of the Commissions of the General Assemblies of the Church of Scotland, etc., p. 340
