Isaac came from Connecticut to Richmond, Chittenden County, Vermont about the year 1785. He located in the southern part of the town where he remained until his death. Richmond was chartered by the Legislature of Vermont on October 27, 1794,being formed from portions of the towns of Jericho, Bolton, Huntington and Williston.
After his 1st wife died in 1804, Isaac married Clarissa Fay (1785-1859) by whom he had 19 children: including Isaac (1806-1878), Elisha (1808-1887), Betsey (1817-1874), Emily C. (1819-1899), Samuel Anderson (1821-1906), and Ezra Benoni (1824-1907).
In the 1800 US Census of Richmond, Chittenden County, Vermont, Isaac (Andrus) was enumerated as a Head of a Family with 1 Free White Male and 1 Free White Female of 45 years and upwards, 1 Free White Male of 10 thru 15, and 2 Free White Males and 2 Free White Females under 10 years of age.
In the 1810 US Census of Richmond, Isaac was enumerated as a Head of a Family with 1 Free White Male of 45 years and upwards, 1 Free White Male and 1 Free White Female of 16 thru 25, 1 Free White Male and 1 Free White Female of 10 thru 15, and 2 Free White Males and 1 Free White Female under 10 years of age.
