6 August 1706: Discharge by Margaret Bannatyne, relict of Robert Broune [Brown] of Colstoune [Colstoun], with consent of Mr Mathew Reid, minister at North Berwick, her present husband, to Alexander Guthrie, WS, as factor for Major Walter Sharp of Blance in the Regiment of Scots Fusiliers, for £933 6s 8d in part payment of £4600 as the remaining part of the price of Houdoun [Howden], Caldshield [Cauldshiels] and others disponed by the said Margaret to the said Major Sharp. "Matthew Reid, born 1668, second son of Matthew R., min. of Hoddam ; educated at Univ. of Edinburgh ; M.A. (30th Nov. 1687) ; ord. 13th Jan. 1692; died 9th Jan. 1730. He marr.

(1) 24th Feb. 1693, Anne, daugh. of Robert Aitchison of Sydserff, and had issue —

  • Anna, born 13th April 1696 (marr. succeeding incumbent)
