The Reverend Mr. Alexander Bruce of Garlet, here treated, is the third second son of Robert Bruce of Kennet.Fasti of the Church of Scotland I: 277 His mother is Agnes or Annas Murray. He was born before 13 June 1637, the date upon which his baptism was registered at Ckackmannan in Clackmannanshire, in Scotland. 11 June 1668: Extract Disposition by Robert Bruce of Kennets, to Alexander Bruce, his second lawful son, whom failing, to David Bruce of Shanbody, his eldest son and heir; of the lands of Garlett, with the teinds thereof, 3 acres of Carse land adjacent thereto, with the pasturage of four soumes, in Shanbody, under the reservation of his own liferent of said lands. 7 December 1674: Charter by David Bruce of Clackmannan, to Robert Scotland, Litster in Clackmannan, and Margaret Reid his spouse, of the Eastmost half of a Tenement of houses and yard, together with a croft or 2 riggs of land lying contiguous to the same, on the north side of the high street of his town of Clackmannan, with a proportional part of the Muir of Pilmuir, all lying in the barony and County of Clackmannan; To be holder of the said Robert Bruce and his heirs; for payment yearly of 6 shillings 8 pence, money of Scotland, at the usual terms, and service of Court.
