The Reverend Mr. John Rannie is the son of Mr. John Rannie, Schoolmaster at Walls, and his wife Christian Donald. According to the Fasti of the Church of Scotland he was born in 1828, at Walls in Orkney, Scotland, but this is quite wrong. Fasti VII: 673 He was actually born on 23 December 1826, and his baptism was registered on 2 January 1827, at Aboyne in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. The Reverend Mr. John Rannie was educated at King's College in Aberdeen, where he graduated Master of Arts in March 1845. Following his graduation he was employed for a time as the Schoolmaster at Coull in Aberdeenshire. On 15 September 1857 he was ordained for service in Canada by the Presbytery of Kincardine O'Neil, and he was appointed to Chatham in Ontario, Canada, by the Colonial Committee on 15 September 1859. Fasti VII: 648 The Reverend Mr, John Rannie remained at Chatham until 1876, when he was appointed to All Saints' in British Guiana in South America.Fasti VII: 673

Death

The Reverend Mr. John Rannie retired in 1904 and is reported to have died in 1910, at Moreton in Essex, England. Fasti VII: 673
