About Reverend William Hobart
William Hobart was born in Groton, Massachusetts. He graduated from Harvard College in 1774, receiving his M.A. in 1777. He marched on alarm to Lexington April 19, 1775 with the Weston, Mass. militia, where he was employed as a teacher. He fought the British all the way back to Charlestown. He was subsequently a Congregational chaplain in Capt. Aaron Willard's company during the Revolution. He is buried in Potter New York with the D.A.R. designation "Veteran of the American Revolution".
