About Rfn. Arthur William Waycott Hosking
Arthur William Waycott Hosking was born at t Germans in Cornwall, England, on 7 December 1891. His parents were William Waycott Hosking (1850-1916) and Emma Hosking (nee Nicholls) (1855-1932) who married at St Germans, Cornwall in 1883. At some stage, Arthur emigrated to New Zealand with his brother Francis Richard Hosking (1889-1963). He joined the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, 2nd Battalion during World War I (Service No. WWI 45770). Arthur was killed in action at Havrincourt. He was buried in the Gouzeaucourt New British Cemetery in Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France [Special Memorial 4.]. His brother Francis died in New Zealand on 11 Jul 1963 and was cremated at Purewa Cemetery (bio by Debbie McCauley, 2 February 2022).
