About Rfn. James Joseph Doran
James Joseph Doran was born at Hastings in New Zealand on 15 October 1875. His parents were James Doran (1856-1914) and Catherine Doran (nee O'Grady) (1858-1911) who had married in New Zealand in 1883. James joined the New Zealand Rifle Brigade, 3rd Battalion during World War I (Service No. WWI 44263). He was killed in action at Ypres and is remembered on the Buttes New British Cemetery (N.Z.) Memorial.
