About Rhodam Rogers
Inscription: PHODAM ROGERS PVT VA TROOPS CAPT MASON'S CO. 1756 - 1843
"Rhodam Rogers was born in Fairfax County, Virginia, and volunteered in the Revolutionary service from Fairfax County under Captain Dennis Ramsey.
He was in the battle of White Plains, N.Y., and at Germantown, Pa. He served three or four months and was discharged, but in August of 1780, he again volunteered under Captain William Mason.
This second time he saw service at Fredericksburg, Richmond, Petersburg, Cheraw Hill and to Pittsylvania Courthouse. At Cheraw Hills he was engaged in a skirmish during which he was wounded in the face by a bayonet which broke his jaw bone. He was also wounded in the hand. The British party of between 30 and 40 was captured. He received his pension in Harrison County in 1832."
