About Richard Brown
Richard Brown & wife Mary Embree Brown (1769-1842) & later daughter Phebe & son, Mercer provided a rest stop on the Underground Railroad before & during the Civil War. There is a Monument located in Preble Co, OH on their old farm. Phebe married Henry Maddock on 14 Mar 1833. The 1850 Census has them living in Gratis, Preble, OH. By 1850, Mercer & his family were living in Noble, Cass, Indiana.
