Mr Richard Cater Nosworthy, 21, was born in 1892. He lived at 11 Fisher Road, Newton Abbot, Devon.

Mr Richard Cater Nosworthy. Richard was born in March 1891 at 7 Shapley's Court, Highweek, Newton Abbot, Devon. He was the son of Mr George Henry Nosworthy (Tanner's Labourer) and Mrs Louisa Annie Nosworthy (also known as Ann and Lavinia) and brother to Albert Rowe, George Henry, John Rowe and Florence Annie. By December 1891 the family were living in Mill Lane, Highweek, moving in the early 1900's to 11 Fisher Road, Newton Abbot.

An uncle of Richard's had emigrated to Buffalo, New York State and Richard planned to join him there. He booked passage on the Olympic but due to rail disruption his original journey to Southampton was halted at Exeter. He returned to Newton Abbot and transfered his passage to the Titanic. He boarded at Southampton as a third class passenger (ticket number 39886, £7 16s).

Nosworthy was lost in the sinking, his body, if recovered, was never identified.

Richard's parents later moved to 62 East Street (off Lemon Road) Newton Abbot and it was here that Richard's father died in August 1936. Richard's mother then moved to 43 Highweek Road, she was to die there in February 1942.

He is remembered on their gravestone in the graveyard at Highweek north of Newton Abbott, Devon.
