Richard Conway and Michael Walsh had a joint lease of 118acres 2roods and 23perches including house, out offices and land from landlord Thomas McDonnell in Ballynooney East (The Carraig) in 1850.

Richard's father, James Conway is listed as a farmer in Ballynooney Hewson townland in the "Tithe Defaulter" list of 1831.

Richard also had 4 acres leased at Ballymartin from landlord Richard Phelan.

His wife was Mary Walsh. Was she a daughter or sister of Michael Walsh??.

The address is given as Ballynooney-Hewson on the Birth Cert of his daughters Anastasia who was born 18th April 1852, Bridget(1846), Mary and Alice (1850) and most likely the eldest Johanna was also born in Ballynooney Hewson. The youngest three children, Anty(1854), James(1856) and Catherine(1858) were born in Smithstown.

These records would indicate that the Conways left or were forced to leave the Carraig sometime between 1852 and 1854.

The Conway daughters marriage addresses are all given as Smithstown.

Did McDonnell force Conway and Walsh from the Carraig????
