GEDCOM Note
Richard Arnold Crabb (my great-great-great-grandfather) was the eleventh child of John and Elizabeth Crabb. Several years before his birth his parents, John and Elizabeth Crabb who were Loyalists sailed from New York to Nova Scotia to find refuge in English-owned land. Richard married Mary Giggey in New Brunswick on December 25th, 1808. They had ten (10) children who were all born in New Brunswick. Richard and Mary Crabb and nine of their children and families migrated to the United States sometime in 1848 or 1849. Daughter Sarah Crabb Kinney and her husband John remained in New Brunswick. About 1850 the Illinois Crabb families changed their last name to "Crabtree". It is believed to avoid the lingering hatred of Loyalists families. Richard worked as a farmer
