Marriage: 2305/1892
Death: 22646/1949

Obituary, Camperdown Chronicle, 6 January 1950:
"THE death occurred on December 22, of Mr. Richard Davis at his late residence, 33 Manifold street, Camperdown, at the age of 85 years. Deceased was born in Campbell street, Camperdown, in 1864 and was an only son, his parents having been married in Camperdown in 1861. Following the death of his father, which occurred prior to his birth, his mother spent the rest of her life in Camperdown. The late Mr. Davis followed his occupation of contracting and road making, having worked for the late Mr. Andrew Walls. Later he entered into partnership with the late Mr. Jesse Porter, and in addition to contracting work stone masonry in and around Camperdown was carried out. Mr. Davis often spoke of the pioneering days, of the work done on different stations when they were opened up, and also recalled the time when an aborigine camp was situated in Campbell street, between Curdie and Adeney streets. Deceased was one of the first children to be baptised at St. Paul's Church of England, Camperdown. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Rawbon in 1892. Six children were born of the marriage and four are still living. The family consists of Richard (dec), Elizabeth (Mrs. Cross), John, Ivy (dec), Norman and Lindsay. The late Mr. Davis was a foundation member of the Camperdown Traders' Association and a member for many years of the I.O.O. F. Lodge. For some years he was a member of the Park Trustees. He was keen on horses and in conjunction with his son, Norman, won 27 races with the ponies Lady Howard and Joe Jewel. When a boy, he assisted with watering Camperdown's mile long avenue of elms. The funeral took place to the Camperdown cemtery on December 23 and was largely attended. Services at the house and at the graveside were conducted by the Rev. Canon B. H. Dewhurst. Coffin-bearers were Messrs. N. V. Davis. J. Davis (sons), Alan Davis. Neville Davis (grandsons), E. Murphy and J. P. Belyea. The pall was supported by Messrs. A. G. Gunner. P. Williams, S. A. Errey. L. Lane, C. Fenton. C. P. Lucas. F. D. Errey. W. N. Teal and R.Cole. The arrangements were carried out by Messrs. Walls and Macqueen."

Retirement, Camperdown Chronicle, 1 April 1924
"After conducting business for many years in Camperdown as a produce merchant at The Mill, Mr Richard Davis is retiring. Lately, Mr Davis took his son John into partnership with him and for the past few years the firm has been known as Davis and Son. Mr Davis, sen., has disposed of his interests to Mr. Sid Podger and in future the style of the firm will be Davis and Podger."

Dissolution of Partnership between R. Davis and J. Paisley, Camperdown Chronicle, 18 December 1909.
"NOTICE is hereby given that the PARTNERSHIP lately subsisting between us, the undersigned, RICHARD DAVIS and JAMES PAISLEY, carrying on business as Produce Merchants at Camperdown under the style or firm of "'Davis and Paisley," has this day been DISSOLVED by mutual consent. The business formerly carried on by Davis and Paisley will be continued in the same premises by Richard Davis. All debts due to and owing by the said late firm will be received and paid by either of them, the said Richard Davis or James Paisley. As witness our hands this Eleventh Day of December, One Thousand, Nine Hundred and Nine. RICHARD DAVIS. JAMES PAISLEY. Witness to Signature of Richard Davis - Leonard Booklead, Solicitor, Camperdown. Witness to Signature of James Paisley - John McDonald, Law Clerk, Camperdown"

Richard sent an application to fell a tree, for firewood, on Colac Road, in 1893. This application was granted. From the Camperdown Chronicle, 7 September 1893.

Richard was listed on a local jury in 1919, and his occupation was marked as Produce Merchant. From the Camperdown Chronicle, 28 August 1919.

Richard was a trustee for The Lismore Public Hall, in 1920. From the Camperdown Chronicle, 24 January 1920.

Richard was listed as the owner of The Flour Mill in 1932. This is somewhat suprising (or maybe even false), since his retirement article indicated he was giving The Mill to his son John. From the Camperdown Chronicle, 23 June 1932.
