The Wergs Estate then passed to Mr Richard fryer,first M.P. for Wolverhampton, Esq.,Banker, one of the founders of the Union Flour Mill ,who had married,August 6th,1794,Mary,the only child of William Fleeming,and sole heiress of John Fleeming,of the wergs.he was succeeded at the Wergs by his son,William"Fleeming"(mother)-fryer,who thus became one of the joint lords of the manor of Tettenhall Regis.The Manorial Rights had been acquired by an ancestor of Mrs Fryer,one Humphrey Fleeming,who purchased a third of the Manor from John Ferrars,Esq.,in 1665.
Like many other far-seeing and philanthropic men,he was persecuted by the ignorant monopolists of his day,but lived to see the fruition of his labours..
