- 1. MRS. ELIZABETH GOODALE, came from Yarmouth, Eng., in the "Mary Ann," in 1637; d. in Newbury, April 8, 1647 [Nb]. She was wid. of John Goodale of Yarlmouth, whose will was dated 1625. Children:
- 2 I ANN, b. ab. 1600; m. Thomas Millerd [or Milward], of Newbury, Gloucester, and Boston. He d. in B., Sept. 1, 1653, aged 53 [See C Nb. and Sv.]
- 3 II SUSANNA, b. ___; m. Abraham Toppan of Nb. She d. March 20, 1689. G. R. 1880, p. 48, states that her name was Taylor, dau. of Mrs. Goodale by a former husband.
- 4 III JOANNA, b. ___; m. 1st, John Oliver; 2d, April 17, 1645, Capt. Wm. Gerrish of Newbury. She d. June 14, 1677, and her husband rem. to Boston in 1678. He was liv. there in 1684; d. in Salem.
- 5 IV ELIZABETH, b. ___; m. ab. 1641, JOHN LOWLE [or LOWELL]. She d. April 23, 1651 [Nb]. In her will she ment. her "sister Tappaine," and made her "brethren," Thomas Millerd, Richard Lowle, Abraham Tappine, and Wm. Gerrish, "overseers."
- 6 RICHARD1 GOODALE [or GOODELL], of Salisbury, "planter" and "turner," recd. land in the "first division," in 1639 and '43; commoner and taxed 1650 and '52; recd. land in 1654, etc. He m. Dorothy ___, who d. Jan. 27, 1664-5[S]. He d. Sep. or Oct., 1666; will June 7, codicil Sep. 8, proved Oct. 9, 1666. (*) C Nb.

- (*) Richard Goodale, Boston, mariner, one of the founders of the First Baptist Church, perhaps with wife Mary, in 1665. He may be the man who d. at Middletown in 1676; had been only a short time there{Sv]. A Richard Goodall recd. L22 for freight in maritime disbursements for King Philip's war, June 24, 1676. [G. R. 1886, p. 93.]
- (t) Nehemiah, "being often at sea," in 1683 made his "kinsman" Richard Hubbard of S. his attorney for his affairs at S., est. of his father and mother Richard and Mary Goodale, decd. Wid Mary Ewell of Boston ap. her "cousin" Richard Hubbard, and wid. Elizabeth Towers of Hingham ap. her "friend" Richard Hubbard, attorney, both in 1683, est. of their father and mother Goodale.
- (!) Bro. Goodale's 7 chil. bp. in Salem village, now Danvers, in 1690[S. chh. rec.] Also chil. of Zachary Goodale, Jr., in 1702. Zachariah Goodale and son David Goodale testified respecting land in A. in 1719.

- RICHARD GOODALE, of Newbury, 1638, was from Yarmouth Co., Norfolk; removed to Salisbury, among first settlers, 1639 or 1640; had wife Dorothy, who died 1655; children, Ann, who married William Allen; and Richard, of Boston; he died 1666.
- RICHARD GOODALE, of Boston, mariner, one of the founders of the first Bapt. Ch., perhaps with wife Mary, in Boston, 1665; had Richard, born 1655; and Mary, who married John Ewell; may have died at Middletown, 1676.
