This is Richard Goss (1662 - 1715) the mariner of of Starr Island, Marblehead and Ipswich (No evidence he was son of Edward Goss) of Marblehead. (Note don't confuse him with Richard Goss of Portsmouth, New Hampshire - that is a different family).

RICHARD Goss, mariner, was born by 1662 in England, He arrived by June 1693 at Star Island. His parents are not known. An Edward Goss was also seen in Marblehead and was possibly his brother (there is no evidence Edward was was Richard's father as Cutter speculated). He was kinsman of and overseer estate of Mrs. Eleanor Welcome of the Shoals 1699, first noted in N.H. June 1693 as witness against John Carter. He Bought land on Star Island in 1694. He was Selectman 1702. List 309. He sold is land on Star Island in 1705 and he retired in Ipswich and died there on 24 Jan. 1714-5, aged 52. His wife was named Mary ___. His children include Mary, Eleanor, Elizabeth, John, Thomas, Hannah, Richard and William baptized in Ipswitch.

- William, baptized Aug. 1, 1714 married Rebecca ___ by 1740 and married 2nd Hannah Tucker 17 Jan 1764.

He had a second wife Jane Walford. He died by 1684. His son Richard was born by 1667 in Rye and he married Martha Foss and died before 3 Mar 1719 in New Castle. Their children were Richard, Mary, Jonathan, Margaret, Jethro, John, Thomas, Nathan, Martha and Rachel.
