A deed in the Somerset archive shows that he rented a house in Macauley Building in Bath in 1840. it describes him as being formerly at Langford in Somerset, but later of the Island of Guernsey. The census of 181 describes his income as coming from land.

He rented Freshford Manor in Freshford for 15 years - there is a commemorative stained glass window in St Peters church in Freshford.

He was buried with his ancestors at Llandaff Cathedral in Wales.
